Feeling anxious, stressed or isolated? Pause Create offers a calm, welcoming space to slow down, explore creativity and connect with others.
We all know that stress blocks creativity but, did you know research has shown that creativity helps reduce stress. When we do something creative we reduce the release of stress hormones like cortisol and increase positive hormones such as Dopamine. If a person develops a regular creative wellbeing practice they can reduce psychological stress, stress hormones, their heart rate and blood pressure, inflammatory proteins, it has even been found to slow biological ageing.
Pause Create is based in Winchester and provides a calm space to slow down through basic mindfulness practice, reducing psychological distress, increases self-confidence, motivation and creativity. You are then encouraged to explore creativity in a playful, process driven way. Focusing on expression not evaluation.
The benefits of this creative health practice are increased by working within a group, to reduce feeling of isolation with community connection. You will be provided with resources at the end of each creative workshop to continue this practice at home.

What is Creative Health?
A growing body of research has showed the significant benefits creativity has for our mental and physical health. This includes illness prevention, supporting positive health behaviours, management of long-term conditions and promoting a healthier ageing process. The National Health Service, World Health Organisation and British Parliament have recognised creative wellbeing as being fundamental for the health of society, aiming to make it available and accessible to all.
What is a Creative Activity?
These creative health workshops are design for anyone experiencing frequent anxiety, persistent stress and feelings of social isolation. We recommend you start with the Four Workshop Series as it provides the foundations to grow you creative wellbeing.
“But, I’m not creative.” A creative activity can be art, crafts, music, dance, performing arts, creative writing, literature, film, photography, cooking, gardening, the list goes on. It may help not to think of these activities in a traditional sense, do you like taking photos with your phone of interesting architecture that catches your eye? This is where you can begin your creative photography practice. Can you create regular opportunities to do this more often, to be more playful with it and to do it with others. In Pause Create workshops we focus on art, with accessible creative activities that anyone can enjoy, regardless of their artistic background. These activities are designed to encourage the participants to repeat or expand them developing a routine creative health practice.
